As to Shane or Myrnin, there are pros and cons to each. With Shane she can have a future, but with Myrnin she definitely has someone who can keep up with and challenge her intelligence which is a large part of who Claire is. Safety would be a concern there.

Only in a friends way. Even if she did love him as more than friends, she wouldn't act on it, she wouldn't do that to Shane.
